About this deal

So that made two differences and upon closer inspection it was also found that there was an indentation around the base of the pot perhaps intended to make it easier to attach the pot to the burner. After reading you review of the BRS 3000T and the Amicus and Windmaster – I wonder if the extra weight of the stove would be worth the savings in fuel? One of the things I really hate about isobutane canister stoves is that the stove sits on top of the fuel canister, which puts your pot of boiling water or pan of sizzling bacon grease high up in a very precarious position. I have used this for solo, 2-night winter trips where all water is derived from melting snow, and for 2-people trips when not depending upon melted snow for water. You could also build confidence by taking out your planned set up on short overnight or even day trips.

We recommend this stove to both experienced and novice explorers looking for a low-cost, low barrier stove option to allow them to heat water and cook basic meals in the backcountry. Remember to be careful shielding your fuel canister stove in the wind so you don't trap all the heat on the fuel canister. Because the stove is small the nob is bit too close to a canister and a bit too short so it's close to the flame too so one needs to get used to use it accurately. For colder months, the heavier and bulkier Kovea Spider remote canister gas stove with a pre-heat tube is favoured.

I didn’t use my jetboil Sol Ti as I was concerned about running full blast with it as I am not sure it was designed to be used with a stove with that high of BTU output. Anyhow for the fun of it I weighed my MSR “repair” kit at 37 grams versus 25 grams for the little BRS stove. Comparable Boil Time in Warm Weather - I have a routine for camp chores and it’s how I measured the boil time of this stove. As far as efficiency of the BRS-3000T goes I have found reducing the flame by about 1/3 will increase efficiency substantially. Some users have reported that the supports can soften as a result with disastrous results however this has never been personally experienced. I do see how you would need the modded stove if you needed the supports to fit in between the fins of the Jetboil though. If you’re worried about holding your hand too close, you can always purchase a lighter with a longer handle. The criticisms of this little stove above stoves like the Pocket Rocket and Soto Windmaster or Amicus are that it is less efficient if you crank it open wide. I am happy with the level of adjustment and the flame control goes from an "almost off" up to a roaring flame that isn't out of control but is enough to fight some wind interference.

I’ve also tried cooking while sitting at a picnic table and realized right away that the stove needed to be either on the bench or on the ground while cooking.

This is something you can actually make yourself and, while being extremely light, offers no flame control. The construction appears to be very good quality and it looks like it would cost much, much more than it does. At less than half the weight of its competitors like the MSR Pocket Rocket, or the Soto Amicus, the BRS-3000T has a comparable boil time. I doubt that it is actually possible to get much smaller or lighter than this and still be a functional item. I can't believe that people are still using these after the OP detailed his stove's various failures.
