I love Greek myths but they leave out much of the mortal emotions, and this book made Galatea’s story come alive. Sometimes the novels chosen are new, often they are from the backlist and occasionally re-issued from way back. She’s not asleep, waiting to be awakened by her lover, but relegated to a hospital after attempting to escape her husband, Pygmalion, who goes unnamed in this story, just as Galatea does in Ovid’s original.
