About this deal

Small group discussion: what was special about Anansi’s spider sons? Who was your favourite? Why? How can we work together and help each other? Ask questions to encourage the children to give more information: What? Why? Where? Who? Why does this slime look weird? It was actually failed attempt to do slime with clear glue but the texture was a fun one. It is like Playdough got married with slime, so I let it and Manu loves it. You can use just Playdough or just slime to recreate the bin. A collection of Incy Wincy (Itsy Bitsy) Spider activities and resources to encourage creativity, counting and literacy development for young children! This is a fun way to bring a song to life and to create a lasting resource for home or classroom using kids’ artwork as the main decoration. Using some velcro to create detachable pieces makes it interactive and prompts involvement from the child at the right part of the song. You could create a whole book of favourite songs and rhymes this way!

One of my favorite sensory bin themes is using water. This is perfect for those babies and toddlers still putting things in their mouth. Using a colander, create a water sensory bin, practice pouring skills as well as taking the time to splash and start learning “sink or float” concepts. Itsy bitsy Rice sensory bin For this activity all you need is a basket with holes on the side, white yarn, and plastic spiders. This activity encourages creativity, fine motor and malleable skills, one to one correspondence and counting skills.

Go for a mini beast hunt: can you hunt for spiders and their webs? What else can you find? Explore the outdoor environment, provide magnifying glasses and pooters, clipboards, paper, pencils, Information books.

How many different creatures can you find - worms, slugs, snails, caterpillars, beetles, ants, woodlice, ladybirds? Make a simple graph to record your findings. I dumped my spooky sensory bottle and replaced the purple glitter with blue confetti to make this one. This follows the same tutorial (15 sec video) as our spooky spider. How to Make a Itsy Bitsy Spider Sensory Bottle

Diaries & Calendars

Age: Tabbies to work on learning colors and 2’s to practice on similarities and differences as well as color matching. I love how ideas just come out of doing other activities. This was initially a spooky spider sensory bottle because Halloween is just around the corner and when I shared it with my son I started to sing the itsy bitsy spider. Ohhh I had purple glitter because it was a spooky spider but I’d I changed it to blue, then it would act as the rain!!
